Review
of Belfast Swing night, The Kings Head – writer Joe Monaghan,
10 September 2005 How
lucky we were to have Maria Vincent and The Millionaires perform for
us at the start of Belfast Week of Dance. What a band! The joint was
jumpin’ from start to finish. We had a crowd from as far as
Dublin, Galway, Edinburgh…even Canada – all top swing
dancers giving it their all, including a spontaneous performance by
champion Lindy hopper Paul Neary..inspired by the wonderful energy
of this truly swinging band and the massive charisma and wonderful
voice of the gorgeous Maria at the microphone. The rapport between
the band and the dancers was electric..we were all jumpin’ outta
our seats and can’t wait to get them back! |

Shropshire
Review Magazine - Feb 05
"Maria Vincent
and The Millionaires are as evocative and authentic as you can get,
both in terms of their music and their lavish 50's costumes. The
Millionaires are so loveable they consistently attract a wide spectrum
of audiences from every corner of the music scene, a quality that
also makes them first choice for numerous weddings and corporate
events. Maria's resonant, Broadway-style voice is both booming and
exquisitely elegant at the same time, expertly combining the sweetness
of The Andrews Sisters with the soulfulness of Ella Fitzgerald and
the sultry tones of Carmel. Coupled with clever instruments, the
result is something that invariably makes you want to get up and
boogie your behind off into the wee hours." |

'n' Western Magazine, Wessex - Feb 05
"Having
seen this band perform at The Winter Gardens in Western super Mare,
the CD faithfully captures all the excitement and exhileration of
their music. It is a must for R&R Jive, CeRoc/LeRoc dance clubs.
Anyone who likes swing, jive and 50's Rhythm and Blues will thoroughly
enjoy this CD." |
Jive
Plus, Oxford. dated Oct 04
Maria Vincent and the Millionaries played for Jive Plus, Oxford at
our Autumn Ball in October 2004 and were a huge success! It isn't
easy finding bands that can play music suitable to Modern Jive to,
but Maria and the guys played a fab selection of slower Rock 'n' Roll,
great R 'n' B and everyone loved them. Also a very pleasant and professional
bunch that looked the part and added sparkle to our event. Highly
recommended! |

" The perfect band for our wedding, what a beautiful day we had,
and what a fantastic way to end it. We all loved you." |
Jo
and Mark, Hythe 2003
"Thank
you so much for your brilliant performance at our wedding. Many guests
passed on their compliments - one said you're the best band he's ever
seen at a wedding and the finest saxophonist he's ever heard!

Review
of Walldorf R'n'R Weekender Aug 2004. Dynamite Magazine, Germany
"Their show
consisted of magnificently performed songs. Maria is very sovereign
and professional on stage and thereby lets her joy flow into the
crowd. After the Millionaires performance, which was crowned by
many more encores than most of the artists before, everybody's mood
was top, and we could have prolonged the festival for another 3
days"

Blues
and Rhythm Magazine Oct 2004
"Maria fronted the Millionaires with a gutsy and powerful
performance and by using many non standard numbers, they had a
refreshing sound with a solid R&B basis, appealing to jivers
aplenty"

31
Days, Shropshire Oct 2002
"Their set
includes classic R&B with a female slant. Remember Nellie Leutcher
or Julia Lee and her Boyfriends, Etta James and even Fabulous Thunderbirds,
then you've got it. They are great players as well as making all the
right moves on stage" |
Birmingham
Jazz Festival 2002
"Maria Vincent,
who has worked as backing vocalist for bluesmen Byther Smith, Todd
Sharpeville and US soul/blues singer Phil Gordon, emerges as a powerful
singer in her own right in this unmissable, authentic 50's style swing/R&B
outfit" |
